Is English Teachers Forum Contributive to Teachers’ Professionalism Development? Voices from Indonesian EFL Teachers

In Indonesian context, teachers’ competencies in terms of set knowledge, skills, and behaviors are explicitly stated the Law No. 14/2005 on Lecturers Teachers. Some previous studies dealing with professional development have been conducted by some researchers. They focused investigating efforts to improve their competence domain academic qualification. also identifying effective teachers. However, little scrutinized how is improved through Teachers Forum. This present study investigated English viewpoints involvement Teacher Forum it was contributive carrying out tasks. Ethnographic- Qualitative involved chief four members The data were collected interview they analyzed applying procedures suggested Spradley (1979) covering analysis, taxonomic componential theme analysis. findings revealed that participants had a good perception for potential them develop pedagogical competence. contributions supporting from routine programs 1) understanding caring students’ uniqueness, conducting teaching learning activities (setting instructional objectives, doing activities, assessing performance), 2) selecting ICT-based media, researches, self-teaching reflection, 3) guiding students performance
